Group & Individual Guidance (Lunch Bunch)
​
The goal of all group & individual counseling​ is assisting students to cope with whatever comes there way in life to better become successful learners. Friendship and comfort are keys to student's maxmizing their potential to learn.

District Testing Program

​The School Counselor coordinates the building testing programs held throughout the school year:
​
Otis Lennon Ability Testing - grade 1
​
PSSA Reading & Math - grades 3, 4, 5, PSSA Science - grade 4
​

Classroom Guidance
​​
Large group instruction offers support to a large number of students in the school. Developmentally appropriate lessons are presented in grades K through 5. Lessons include a building-wide approach to bully prevention, problem solving, decision making, career interests, test taking strategies, mindfulness approaches, and conflict resolution.​
Conflict Resolution & Problem Solving​
​
Students at all grade levels are taught the problem solving method through the classroom meeting format, peer mediation (grade 2 recess, grade 4 guidance, and grade 5 conflict manager program). Students learn to "Listen without interrupting, not saying putdowns, and working hard to solve problems through brainstorming safe and healthy solutions.

RTII (Response to Intervention & Instruction)
​​
The School Counselor is an active member of the RTII (Response to Instruction & Intervention) Team. RTII is a multi-tiered approach to provideing services/interventions for struggling learners. It is a school-wide approach which includes differentiating instruction for any student who needs assistance to help them improve their academic and or behavioral skills.
​
The team members are: the classroom teacher, principal, school psychologist, school counselor, reading specialist, speech/language therapist and school nurse. Parents are also part of the team.
