Bully Prevention

Kernsville is a "Bully-Free" School.  All students take a pledge at the beginning of the school year stating key points to making our school a "bully-free," & safe place to be:

  • We will not bully others.

  • We will try to help students who are bullied.

  • We will include students who are easily left out.

  • When we know someone is being bullied, we will tell an adult at school and an adult at home.

Classroom meetings are held regularly to address these rules and assist students & staff with strategies related to each rule.

The "Paw Patrol" consists of staff throughout the building who reward students with "Paw Patrol" tickets when they are randomly seen as being part of Kernsville's PACK.  These students are "caught in the act" of being "proud, accontable, careful, or kind," during the school day.  Each day the students report to the office to post their ticket on the "Principal's 200" bulletin board, and a positive call is placed home notifying the family of this accomplishment.

Once there are 10 Paw Patrol tickets in a row, a student's name is selected, and they get to spin the wheel for a special prize!

Students in grades 1  5 participate in career exploration for ideas about their aspirations by using the Xello program.  Guidance & Library have joined forces to provide students the opportunities to learn about their interests and strengths to see how they might factor in to their future career choices.

Parents & students in grades 1, 3,4, 5 can log on to the website on Clever & click on the Xello app.  Grade 1 can explore Career Town.

Students in grade 2 can log in on the KV library page and explore activities in VA Career View under 2nd Grade, "Careers."
